With the social development and people’s living standards improvement,making the leisure activities such as cultural and sports gained considerabledevelopment. The demand for public space put forward higher requirements as aresult. The international exchanges and cooperation make further promote to theconstruction of related facilities, setting off a round of construction boom, such assporting venues, cultural exhibition center, airport transportation and other largespace building. Large space building usually is the center of social activity. Theirmassing, scale and other characters of the body often unusual and exceptionallycompelling, often make themselves become the focus of the city’s landscape. Thelarge space buildings also shape the city’s personality and symbolic force, having animportant social and aesthetic position.During the rapid development of large space, its indoor acoustic environmenthas also attracted more and more attention. However, under the study on the largespace acoustics, the domestic researcher generally lack of the theoretical dependent.The most common method for evaluating the acoustic features of interior space iscalculating the reverberation time. As we all know, the large spatial sound energydistribution is inhomogeneous. It means that the sound field of the large spacebuilding does not belong to diffuse sound field, which does not meet theprerequisite for calculating the reverberation time. Using the reverberation time toevaluate large space acoustic environment is lacking of a theoretical basis. It isill-defined which building is the Large Space Building. In the end what kind ofspace is large space which cannot be used to evaluate with the reverberation timeneeds further study.The article in-depth analyzed the sound pressure level of the results of theteSTIng and simulation of the large space sound field. The corresponding researchincludes the distribution of reverberation time and Speech Transmission Index (STI).The use of reverberation time to describe the sound field of the entire large space isnot accurate enough. Computer simulation or other ways should be taken to studythe entire sound field. The indoor SPL formulas is no longer applicable when the scale is greater than a certain value. It is better to use the software simulation tocalculate the indoor sound pressure level instead. The research elucidates the somebasic sound field distribution of the large space building. In the end the article putsforward the corresponding design strategy based on the conclusions for large spacebuilding acoustic design.This study is only a preliminary study of the basic characteristics of the largespace sound field. It doesn’t include some other different proportions and differentacoustic conditions of the large space, such as acoustic environment, the evaluationcriteria and other factors on large spatial sound field characteristics which needsfurther research.
