With the extensive use and promotion of energy dissipation structure,the designmethod of structure attached to buckling restrained braces or viscous dampers has beensome development.The passage designed energy dissipation structure with bucklingretrained braces and viscous dampers respectively based on equivalent linearizationmethod,energy method and multiple method,so put forward a reasonable and effectivemethod to design the energy dissipation structure.First,choose calculation models according to the result of related investigation.Secondthe result under natural waves is difficult to analysis and compare.So the calculation modelswere analyzed by nonlinear time history method under artificial waves.Last,calculate thedampering amout of three high-level structure with buckling retrained braces or visiousdampers based on equivalent linearization method,energy method and multiple method.Any method of designing energy dissipation structure exists something good andsomething bad,according to the idea,after the passage repectively caculated the damperingamout of buckling restrained braces,visious dampers with the structure mainly based onabove three theory methods,and then they had been analyzed by nonlinear time historyunder three kinds of rare earthquake wave by Midas/Gen.According to considering theprocess of caculating the dampering amout and the shock absorption effect together,drawthe effective and simple method to design energy dissipation structure.It can be indicated from the research that:the shock absorption of the energydissipation structure,which was setted with buckling restrained braces or visious dampersbased on energy method is better than that based on equivalent linearization and multiplemethod.And at the process of caculating the dampering amout,the method needs lessparameters and formulas used,but quivalent linearization method has more parameterssetted and formulas used than others,the best multiple definited in multiple method needcalculate several works again and again,this wates much time.At last,think energy methodwhich has clear concept of the mechanics and easy-understanded theory as the ideal andeasy method of designing the energy dissipation structure with buckling restrained braces orviscous dampers respectively.
