Though asphalt temperaturesensitivity, flexibility and other aspects are greatly improved, thermoplastic bituminousmaterials and insufficient toughness, low elongation and other shortcomings are not solvedessentially.Epoxy modified asphalt can improve the tensile strength, adhesion and elongation ofasphalt which optimized thermoplastic properties of asphalt essentially. Epoxy resin is used inmodifying asphalt, used in bridge deck pavement, repairing special road and other areas.This article references a lot of literature, starting from the mechanism of epoxy, anddevelops epoxy resin and curing agent. Then determines the best ratio of epoxy and curingtemperature of the components through a lot of tests, and determines the curing time of epoxyasphalt and tensile shear strength under different temperatures, followed by the mix design ofthe epoxy asphalt mixture.Combining with the characteristics of epoxy asphalt mixture with Marshall testdesigning method, this paper puts forward that void ratio is determined as control index of theasphalt mixture ratio, and designs epoxy asphalt mixture to meet the requirements afternatural mineral aggregate gradation mixture.Second, the paper indicates the temperature stability and water stability performance ofepoxy asphalt mixture respectively by high-temperature rutting test, low-temperature bendingtests and immersion Marshall tests and freeze-thaw splitting test, adhesion test, corrosion test.The difficulties of the development of epoxy asphalt, the curing time of Epoxy asphalt islonger, curing temperature is difficult to control and cost is much.
