Surface ships and submarines can be detected and located on a mine platform without manualcontrol. With the requirement of unmanned battle, the performance of detection and location ofthe platform should be improved. We focus on the detection of long-range targets on small mine platform in this paper, andadopt an improved version of targets motion analysis (TMA) algorithm based ondirection-frequency estimation. Comparing with the traditional methods, this method can solvethe influence of long range location precision coused by elevation error. We also discuss thepseudo-linear least squares (LS) estimation and Kalman filtering estimation methods, andpropose another TMA algorithm combining the above two estimation methods. This TMAalgorithm successfully improves the real-time performance of LS algorithm and reduces theeffect of initial iteration value in Kalman filtering. In this paper, we use an equilateral triangle to estimate long range target’s azimuth angle. Inthis way, the performance of direction estimation of the targets is improved. Experimentdemonstrates the performance of the estimation. The result fits well with the theory of TMA.Besides direction, frequency can be estimation under certain conditions. The frequency spectrumof the target signal consists of some line spectra. The paper applies a method to extract linespectrum in various backgrounds. Experiment demonstrates the performance of this method isvalid. This paper follows with the trends of mine fuse development. The content includes targetlocation, target direction and frequency estimation on small mine platform. Experimentsdemonstrate the performance of the methods. This paper has fairly important value and potentialapplication prospect in the next generation mine platform.
