With the development and popularization of national sports, the types and functions ofsports buildings are no longer limited to the use of athletic competition, but shift tomultivariate fintness centers. In humid areas, the energy consumption of gymnasium is quiteconsiderable.Speeding up of the rate of body’s metabolism, lack of interaction and updatewith the external environment, and breeding of harmful bacteria in static air environment leadto the failure of maintaining the health standard of indoor sports environment. How topropose the controllable physical factors which are enable to affect the health standardofindoor sports environment pertinently, to promote the quality of sports space and to reduce theunhealthy factors wich caused the damage to human body, is an very important issue on thedesign and research of sports buildings. Before that, proposing a preliminarymethod to defythe standard for health evaluation of indoor sports environment is the primary matter. This article willextended the research branch for health (comfort) evaluationcriteria ofindoor sports environmentby reference to the evaluation method of completed constructionand interior comfort evaluation literature. This evaluation criteria, which based on the climatecharacteristics of humid areas, propose controllable individual physical factors that effecthealth standard of indoor sports environment: thermal environment, light environment, and airquality, then quantify the weight of each individual factor. Based on the comfort of indoorsports people and the related provisions of the sports-architectural design, redefy theevaluation criteria of each individual physical factor. This evaluation criteria not only concernsthe subjective feelings of interior users, but also combines with objective measured parameterresults, which reflect the impact of passive design techniques for indoor sportsenvironment. That makes this criteria be widely used for health evaluation of indoor sportsenvironment in hot and humid regions. This evaluation criteria can not only evaluate theobjection to a certain level, but also can be used to compare between two different ones. The goal of this study is to propose a health evaluation for indoor sports environment, which is design-guided and targeted in hot and humid regions. This evaluation criteria is the date base of the study on passive techniques for sports buidings design.Basing on passivetechniques for architecture and the direction of the health evaluation for indoor sportsenvironment and giving full play to human’s thermal adaptation of humid regions, that can beused to guide the passive adjustment mechanism for gymnasium——natural ventilation, natural lighting and shading, corresponded to architectural design direction.Making sure thatcontrol the indoor environmental parameters effectively has a significant meaning forachievingthe healthy sports environment and sustainable building design.
