As the development of both living standard and spiritual life, people paid moreattention to the construction of barrier facilities in public environment. Interestingly, ithas two parts—barrier and barrier-free facilities. The barrier-free facilities are used tohelp those disabled, while the function of a barrier facility is protect public safety. Theconstruction of two facilities links human and environment and it spread throughoutevery city. Although it is an indispensable part of public environment, but the currentsituation is not optimistic, it lacks the interactive experience between man andfacilities. Moreover, it paid less attention to humanity.The innovation point of this paper is applying the experiential design principleinto the plan of public environment barrier facilities. More importantly than all of that,it paid more attention to interaction between persons, people and facilities, and evenhuman and environment. Moreover, the author offers a comfortable design that helpsusers feel the ease of use and the pleasure of handle by standing on users’ position.Firstly, the essay researches the current situation of facilities in public environment bycompare the difference between China and foreign countries. Then, the author givesan idea of experiential design. The details of experiential economy and design will beintroduced in this part. Moreover, the paper tries to analyze the experiential design inthree parts that include connotation, meaning and type. In the end, it analysis fourtypes of public environment (plaza, community, traffic, park), and use four methods(communicative and interactive, generality and individuality, functionality,intellectuality) to help customers feels the convenience and comfortable by use barrierfacilities. Interestingly, the author also applies four types of experiential design(entertainment experience, education experience, aesthetic experience and recluseexperience) into analysis the public environment.
