| Under the background of green and low-carbon trend forurban development, as a green meansof transportation, the status of walking is improving increasingly. However, with the rapidurbanization of China, car-oriented construction mode has a great impact on the pedestrian space.Especially in the urban construction progress, quite a lot of factors led to the environment of urbanpedestrian deteriorating even further such as urban sprawl, over large block scale, gatedcommunities, privatization of public space and lack of walking and cycling facilities. Therefore,researching the walking space requirement of urban environment in the motorized era, and thencreate a good urban environment which is suitable for walking has already been a basic project ofurban planning nowadays.Firstly, through the relationship between behavior and environment theory, behavioralintervention theory as a starting point, analyzes and explains the three major factors affectingpedestrian behavior (Predisposing factors, Enabling factors, Reinforcing factors) and the spatialform content, and summarized as proximity, connectivity and Placeness for walking behavior asdemand characteristics of the space environment,and thenproposecalculation model which are usedto describe the spatial formAfterwards, target16urban residential area in Nan’an, Chongqing to get the data of walkingbehavior and social attribute by distributing questionnaires, in addition, getting the data ofevaluation factors of urban space according to GIS and site investigation, and then use SPSS toanalyze and screen relative parameters which have effect on walking trip by relevant analysismethod. Then use Logistic regression model to study the influence degree of residential districts’environmental factors on the walking trip by means of controlling the effect on the individual’sother social and economic variables andextract three critical indicators which are proximity,connectivity and Placeness to build walkableurban residentials.At last, this thesis uses other relevant studies for reference and further put forwardconstructing walking unit based on the empirical research, and proposed the three major planningand design countermeasures of function induced (proximity), the path induced (connectivity)and place induced (placeness).
