The Research On Design Of City Square Based On Space Experience

City Square is the most important element of the urban public space, wherepeople’s daily life and public communication activities happen. City Square is the"living room" of urban space, with the important function of organization of urbanresidents to participate in public activities, and it is also an important place tocommunicate with the social, natural, and daily life. It can reflect a city’s overallappearance of the city and the image of the city. It is an important symbol of the city’simage too.The development of China’s Square is mainly after China reforms and opens up tothe world, especially since the1990s, it comes the period of the construction of urbansquare. With a lot of construction of city square, a lot of problems have been exposed.Square is in the pursuit of a large-scale, but the designers ignore people’s feeling inthe square, which results in the low utilization ratio of the square, and people can notachieve the ideal space experience. In order to solve these problems, the paper baseson the basic theory of the space experience and behavioral psychology, makes theusers’ feeling as the starting point, and makes space experience as one way to designthe city square. Activities in space are the clue of the City Square’s space experience.With analyzing the elements of the square space, it means to form a square spacesuitable for human to use. People who are in the presupposed spatial scenario, goalong the space clue which is arranged by the designer. And people gradually see thethemes and the content of the space clearly. At the same time, with the association,people can form the artistic space experience.This paper shows the systems analysis of the development process of City Square,and the new changes in square space. With a lot of on-the-spot surveys and interviews,the paper analyzes some of the basic elements of the square space to solve theproblems appeared. It initially proposes conventional of design of city square, andmake the preliminary exposition of the trends of the city square space designing.
