Abstract/Summary:
Compared with traditional materials,composite materials have many obviousadvantages, such as higher strength ratio and modules ratio, better corrosion resistanceproperty, and fatigue resistance. Therefore, they are widely used in aerospace fields.Automatic Tape-Laying (ATL) is one of the most important methods in compositemolding. ATL equipment is the key equipment used in ATL process. And ATL head, asthe operating component in ATL process, is the key component of ATL equipment. ATLhead can cut, feed, impact and heat the prepreg tape. The study of ATL technique andATL equipment is in its infancy stage in China, so carrying out the research on ATLhead and the key technology has great significance to enhance the application ofcomposite materiels in aerospace fields.Firstly, functional analysis of ATL head used in the molding of large rotarycomposite parts is complished. And the basic functions of the ATL head are confirmed:impacting function, cutting function, heating function, and tape-feeding function.Secondly, solutions of every function are proposed and through contrastiveanalysis, the overall realizing plan of ATL head is determined. Based on the results ofthe functional analysis, mechanical design and analysis of ATL head is finished in detail.And compaction system, ultrasonic cutting system, tape transmission system andheating system, are complished in detail. Then the Pneumatic circuit of ATL head isdesigned according to the movement requirements of each pneumatic actuators used inthe ATL head.As ultrasonic cutting system is one of the most important parts in ATL head, anultrasonic cutting experiment table is designed based on an existing three-dimensionaltable. The ultrasonic cutting experiment table is composed of ultrasonic vibrationmechanism, ultrasonic cutting mechanism, prepreg-tape-fixing mechanism and thebench body.Lastly, a series of ultrasonic cutting contrast experiments are completed. Theinfluence of the process parameters on cutting effect, such as cutting power, cuttingspeed, cutting pressure, cutting depth and the tension of prepreg-tape, is studied. Andsome important conclusions are summarized:(1) In order to get better cutting quality,ultrasonic cutting process needs minimum requirements of cutting pressure, cuttingdepth and tension of prepreg-tape.(2) Reasonable match of the power, speed, pressureand depth in ultrasonic cutting process, is helpful to improve the cutting quality andefficiency.
