The software platform of an UAV ground control station is the most significant partof an UAV system. It exchanges data through the serial port with the radio modem,monitoring the status of flight and device while managing to control the trajectory.This project is aimed to design a software platform of the UAV ground controlstation based on modules. The platform consists of four modules: virtual instruments,trajectory tracing and planning (T&P), data transmission and data management. In thevirtual instruments module designed in LabVIEW, there are sub-modules todecode-extract the information and encode-send the instructions, it achieves to feedbackthe status of flight and device in real-time, capable of giving instructions to the UAV.The trajectory T&P module is developed in MapX and LabVIEW to realize the panning,zoom-in and out etc. of the e-map can be realized through programming, and thereal-time locating of the UAV in the e-map can be achieved through reading thegeographic coordinates in the information. In the meantime, by inputting thecoordinates of the starting and finishing point, the trajectory T&P module is able to planthe trajectory automatically and send it to the UAV. The data transmission module isdesigned and developed in VISA drive, connecting the port and the platform withinformation-reading and instructions-sending. The data management module isequipped to not only store the information and instructions, but to present the requiredinformation onto the instruments module and the GPS module, realizing thereconstruction of the trajectory.The platform was put into test after finishing the design. The functioning of thereal-time feedback and locating was tested by delivering through the port to the PC theinformation sent by the UAV to a radio modem, while the trajectory was planned in thetrajectory T&P module. The trajectory and the flight status were reconstructed by theinformation stored, providing proof to the integrity of the platform.
