Turntable is the key equipment for simulation and testing of inertial navigationcomponents in the fields of aerospace and aeronautics. Turntable’s comprehensiveperformance directly affects the reliability and accuracy of the inertial equipmenttest results, and it plays a crucial role in aerospace product and weapon systems’performance and accuracy.Firstly, the development of the turntable, the formation process of the finiteelement method (FEM), applications of FEM in the design of turntable, theformation process of structure optimization are briefly introduced.Secondly, according to the specifications of the turntable, the overall scheme isdesigned. The structure of the shaft system and frame, the motors and angulartransducers are also reasonably designed and chosen. And at the same time, thedetailed analysis and design of the achieved specifications are conducted. Throughselecting the related accessories of the turntable, a3D solid model by softwarePro/E is established. Based on the principle of FEM analysis, the simplified solidmodel is imported into ANSYS. According to the load, material properties,boundary conditions and other parameters, the static and dynamic characteristics ofthe turntable are analyzed. The results show that the design has met therequirements, and the safety is above10times of the original design.Thirdly, the frame structure is optimized. A parametric model of the innerframe is created by Pro/E, with the optimization function of ANSYS. The framestructure is completed by the size optimization and then the best set of optimizationresults which is selected from the three groups. Through the final check calculation,the new scheme significantly reduces the mass and the moment of inertia of theframe structure, which can fulfill the requirement of optimization well.Finally, the model of the inner-axis servo system is established.Based on theclassical control theory,the Integral-lead/lag correction controller is proposed.Thenthe performance of the controller is analyzed by the simulation,which shows theeffectiveness of the proposed method.
