Project duration, cost and quality are three main objectives of engineeringprojects. The current controls of the three aspects are relatively independent,which produce the effect in practice is limited, mostly because the presentcontrol methods only focus on the purely considered control of the threeaspects and lack of integrated control. In order to address the issue ofcoordination between the three objectives better and provide effectivedecision support for managers, a time-cost-quality trade-off model has beenbuilt. In addition the Non-dominated Neighbor Immune Algorithm (NNIA)has been used to solve the model.The major contents and achievement of the thesis are summarized asfollows:(1) Based on the System Reliability Theory, an engineering project is seenas a system. The Binary Decision Diagram (BBD) has been used to calculatethe quality level of a project. Therefore, the logical relationships of processesof engineering project will be considered fully.(2) The existing time-cost models, time-quality models and cost-qualitymodels have been analyzed and summarized. The reward and punishmentsystem of time and cost in engineering practice has been considered and atime-cost-quality trade-off model has been built based on the SystemReliability Theory. Then the three main objectives of engineering projectshave been combined organically.(3) The deficiencies and limitations of solutions to multi-objectiveoptimization problem have been considered. Because of the greater advantageto solve high-dimensional multi-objective optimization problem, theNon-dominated Neighbor Immune Algorithm has been used to solve thetime-cost-quality trade-off model. Then the model will be solved more rapidand accurate. (4) The time-cost-quality trade-off model has been used in an engineeringproject. With the help of MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory), the model has beensolved on computer by Non-dominated Neighbor Immune Algorithm. By thisway, the solving efficiency of the time-cost-quality trade-off model has beenimproved greatly. The computational result obtained a series of Paretooptimal solution which could provide effective decision supports formanagers.
