Fujian earth building has a long history, high artistic and scientific value. Theearth buildings of Yongding is concentration of the Hakka intelligence, and it isinherit of the Hakka culture. After the success application for the list of worldheritage, in order to better preserve the earth building as a symbol of culture andmake it standing for a long time, it’s particularly important to protect the earthbuilding. Yongding is located in mountainous of Fujian, its humidity change of thelocation of earth buildings are big, and it is sensitive to humidity that the earthbuildings us rammed earth wall as bearing structure, under the effect of humiditychanged repeatedly, the degradation phenomenon of the existing rammed earth wall ismore serious.In the support of the National Science foundation (51178196), Fujian earthbuildings is researched as an object in this paper, through field investigation,experiment, numerical simulation methods, the main research are bearing capacity oframmed earth wall under the effect degradation and the forcing—deformationcharacteristics under loads. The main contents have several aspects as following:(1) Through field investigation in the earth buildings, measure the relative sizeof the Hakka tulou, such as circumference, wall height, wall thickness, in preparationfor the establishment of the finite element model. Survey the main structure types ofthe earth buildings and building technology, classify common diseases appearing theearth buildings and focuses on the rammed earth wall degradation diseases, thebriefly analyzes the causes of the deterioration disease.(2) Collect the local meteorological data, analyze of relative humidity andaverage temperature. Analyze of rammed earth properties through basic physicalproperties test of the rammed earth material. Through change humidity, to do theWetting—Drying cycles experiments of rammed earth test samples. The majorstudy is how much effect different cycles will have on the quality, the moisturecontent and unconfined strength of rammed earth block. (3) Choose typical earth buildings, to establish model by the finite elementmethod, and analyze the bearing capacity of the earth building under the degradation,and consider that the injury of rammed earth impact on the bearing capacity of theearth buildings. Under an existing load, analyze stress features and deformationalcharacteristics of the earth buildings which occur phenomenon of degradation, andfind out the weak parts of the rammed earth wall, to provide reference for theprotection and repair of the earth buildings.
