With the global energy tension and enhanced awareness of environmental protection, wind power has attracted high attention as renewable energy. Because the outer rotor permanent magnet generator is in the popularity as a kind of small direct drive generators, there is more and more research for it. In order to test various properties of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator timely and accurately, and provide technical support for design and analysis of permanent magnet generator, it is very important for the research of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator experimental platform. In this paper, the outer rotor permanent magnet generator which have been designed in this laboratory is used as a research subject, the permanent magnet generator experimental platform will be designed and analyzed, for the problems which have been found in the experiment software coupling design will be carried out.Firstly, based on the outer rotor permanent magnet generator structure and basic theoretical basis, we put forward the design thought of permanent magnet generator experimental platform and design the experimental platform in hardware and software. The required equipment is determined and the overall block diagram is constructed.Secondly, we elaborate hardware and software structure of the permanent magnet generator experimental platform which can measure the voltage and current of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator under different torque and rotational speed, we can get voltage, power and efficiency curve of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator by means of data analysis; we state the problems (System loss and Coupling requirements of energy parameters) found in the experiment and put forward the basic way of problem solution; by the experimental approach we test the input and output parameters of experimental platform and calibrate the system. Finally, we couple two software of permanent magnet generator experimental platform based on VB and LabVIEW software and analyze the coupling process of each software in detail. Combining calibration formula and related calculation formula of the experimental platform, the various parameters (Torque, Speed, Voltage, Current, Input power, Output power and Efficiency) of the permanent magnet generator can be displayed on the LabVIEW front panel under each fixed speed and put into the excel form.This experimental platform can match and test different external rotor permanent magnet generator, and the coupling software can collect data and generate the coupling data form more easily. This experimental platform can test out the performance of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator timely and accurately, and the various properties of the outer rotor permanent magnet generator can be verified much better. It provides the necessary experiment technology for the design and performance test of permanent magnet generator.
