Rotary dryer in asphalt mixing plant which is used to produce asphalt mixture is the coredevice of all,and it can sufficiently dehydrate granular material to reach the desiredtemperature in a short period of time. Mixing blades in rotary dryer stirred granular materialssufficiently. This equipment currently exists on the following questions:(1) Low thermalefficiency:Only a portion of the heat generated in the fuel is absorbed by most part of the heatdischarged to the atmosphere along with the flue gas;(2) Production quality is unstable:Material factor(ssuch as moisture content, the source material stability),parameters,structuresize of the device and other factors likely to affect product quality;(3) More pollutants:Production process produces a lot of dust causes environmental pollution;(4) High productioncosts:demand for raw materials and fuels needed in production is great. Thus,improving thethermal efficiency and their production quality of the equipment helps to save energy, reducecosts, protect the environment. Therefore, the structural design and simulation of drying drumhas important significance.This study about rotary dryer of asphalt mixing equipment focuses on the followingaspects:(1) By classifying the roller blades,it comes to the advantages and disadvantages ofeach form of blades,determines the structural parameters of the different sections of the blade.We modeled beginning of throwing angle and termination of throwing angle to analyze aboutsports rules of granular materials,researching the influence of parameters such as drumradius,speed,friction coefficient on its spread effect;(2) Propose three performanceindicators(residence time,amount of material held,density of the material screen),establishits precise mathematical model respectively,model it using matlab simulation software,andanalyze the impact of various parameters(speed, radius, angle, installation angle of blade,structural angle of the blade, the phase angle of the blade, the number of blades)on theheating process;(3) Main content analyzes material sources factors(particle size, moisturecontent, etc.)and equipment factors(structural parameters, burners, vacuum fluctuations,etc.),obtaining the inherent influence between temperature and the various factors;(4) On thebasis of theoretical analysis,model it using the computer software Pro/E,mesh the modelwith Gambit. Then, use simulation software Fluent of CFD to make a numerical simulation about the flow field distribution,getting the internal contours of the flow field of rotary dryersuch as temperature, turbulent kinetic energy, velocity, pressure contours, etc. Through theanalysis of the various contours of the flow field we can get internal combustion flame law,heat distribution, flow velocity distribution about the rotary dryer;(5) We analyze the impactof these factors such as negative pressure, speed, jet velocity of fuel on the flow distribution.Analysis on the influence rule of various factors on the heat and mass transfer processes canbe used to guide the design of the rotary dryer,and improve the thermal efficiency of therotary dryer and the quality of particulate material.
