This paper mainly analyzed the working principle and design method of the permanentmagnet DC motor,and designed a2pole8slot permanent magnet DC motor,and wrote a setof motor electromagnetic field finite element analysis program based on Visual Basiclanguage. Then it introduced how to use the program to calculate and analyze the designedpermanent magnet DC motor.If the performance was unsatisfactory, it was necessary to adjustthe sizes of the motor,then use the program to calculate again.When the motor performanceand design efficiency were both relative optimal, it could be determined the final design plan.First of all, according to the design of permanent magnet DC motor theory andexperience, the paper expounded how to preliminary design the structure size of a permanentmagnet DC motor by the calculation of equivalent magnetic circuit method.Then, it established the finite element mathematical model of the motor, and wrote aparagraph for static electromagnetic fields of two dimensional finite element calculation ofelectromagnetic field program by Visual Basic language, and made it through themicrocomputer debugging argument.Then the design of the initial plan was used to calculatethe performance of the motor,by using the finite element calculation program.It would adjustthe individual sizes to meet the design requirements.After repeating adjustment andaccounting, the final design scheme was determined.Finally, in view of the final design, it could work out the operating characteristics of themotor.When the motor was in no-load or load,the magnetic field distribution and air gap fluxdensity curve could be mapped.and the electromagnetic torque curves and characteristiccurves ware also mapped when it was in load.By comparing part of the calculation results andlaboratory test data, the result was consistent.In addition, this article also introduced the characteristics of the developed software,function and method of using.and the software design process and operation interface werealso described in detail.
