As the demand of power grows quickly, power load keeps being heavier and linesbecome more intensive. Medium and small diameter of cable tunnel is going to replacetraditional overhead line step by step, which the direction of the urban development inChina. There are more and more tunnels constructed by shield method at present.Studies about law of ground settlement and soil disturbance generated by the averagediameter of shield at home and abroad are many while that about medium and smalldiameter of shield are few.This paper analyzes soil settlement, soil horizontal displacement, soil porewater pressure, as well as law of axial and ring stress of duct piece generatedby medium and small diameter of shield, by the method of in-situ test and monitoring the data above.The measured value of soil deformation generated by the average diameterof shield and medium and small diameter of shield is analyzed. The result shows that disturbance law of construction of medium and small diameter of shield is similar with that of the average diameter of shield. The displacement generated relates to the soil layer.This paper uses MIDAS to establish computational model, model soil deformation generated by medium and small diameter of shield, and analyze the reason of difference between measured data and result of numerical modeling. According to comparison between numerical modeling of the average diameter of shield and medium and small diameter of shield, characteristic of soil deformation of the two kind of tunnels is analyzed.
