The Research Of Chinese Contemporary Experimental Architects

The term “Chinese Experimental Architect” was developed in1990s, which typicallyrefers to a group of avant-garde architects in China, such as Zhang Yonghe, Cui Kai, WangShu, etc. There are three main characteristics in there design work: Criticalness, Marginalityand Regionalism. This group has been widely reported by media of China and aroused wideconcern by Chinese society. The architecture theory of Chinese experimental architecture hasa strong impact of Chinese architecture and need further research.The main research method is statistical analysis. In this research, the author analyse thewords and expressions of architect’s paper and speech and calculate the occurrence frequencyof frequent words. And then draw a conclusion of the main architecture thought of Chineseexperimental architects. With this research method, the conclusion is impersonal andconvincing.There are5main chapters. The first two chapters are the fundamental state of theresearch and the introduction of Chinese experimental architects. The third chapter is the mainpart of this thesis, which is the analyses of paper and speech of Chinese experimentalarchitects. The fourth chapter is the case study of four architects, which intends to study thearchitecture methods of these experimental architects. The last chapter summarized the mainconclusion of the thesis, and discusses the development direction of Chinese experimentalarchitects.
