The extensive application of electronic control technology on the piston engine has greatlyimproved the power, fuel economy and emissions of the engine. It is in line with the theme of energysaving and environmental protection at present. Gasoline is the fuel of most piston engines which areused on vehicles and aircrafts. Because of the low flash point and high volatile, it is easy to explode atroom temperature, which makes production, transportation and using gasoline exist a high securityrisks. Compared with gasoline, kerosene has a high flash point and low volatile, which makes it safetyin transportation and using. In this thesis, a carbureted gasoline engine was transformed to electroniccontrol fuel injection, and a study on kerosene as an alternative fuel on the engine was carried out.The main work was as follows:(1) The Mean Value Engine Model of the engine was built using Matlab/Simulink software.The discretized fuel film submodel was used. The model was calibrated based on the engine benchtest data and then the model was used to calculate the engine’s fuel injection quantity in steady-stateconditions and transient conditions.(2) The fuel injection control system was designed, mainly include Selection, calibration,installation the sensors and injectors. The microcontroller was selected. The hardware and software ofthe fuel injection control unit were designed.(3) A controller semi-physical simulation platform was built, the main control functions of thecontroller was Debugged. The start condition, idle condition and steady-state condition of the enginewere tested on the test bench, it verified the control functions of the fuel injection control system.(4) On the base of verified the fuel injection control system, the research on kerosene as analternative fuel was completed. The results show that the fuel injection control system can be appliedto kerosene engine, it has laid a good foundation for kerosene engine.
