Imagery is the core concept in traditional Chinese esthetics.It is fully demonstrated in a variety of traditional artisticcreations, such as literature, poetry, painting and sculpture, butnot in the field of product design. As is known to all, though havinga certain degree of reform and innovation, the Chinese industrialdesign, based on borrowing the successful experiences of thewestern design, has been influenced by the western pattern. Ithasn’t come out of the shadow of the western design, so it isimportant to develop the design pattern with Chinesecharacteristics.Therefore, it is also reasonable to introduce the thought ofimage modeling into product design. Employing the thought ofimagery modeling can unify both the practicability and theesthetics of the products. Through the employment of the image, thecultural resource which is the accumulation of the cultural andmaterial civilization can be better used in the product design andalso increase the added value of the products so as to enrich itsvitality and broaden a larger space for the market.Designing the products through the use of the image isrepresented by the fact that the designer will integrate the emotioninto the products. The image of the products contained in theemotion of the products will also be understood by the consumers.Therefore, the imagery and the product design are unified together.The report which starts with the sketch of the estheticcharacteristics of the image in the traditional Chinese culturewill bring the thought of image modeling into the products design.
