As the advanced digitized technology, the Computer Aided Design (CAD) andComputer Aided Engineering(CAE) have been broadly applied in the engineeringdesign. And CAD/CAE integrated design technology would become the important trendin the field of engineering technology. Under the thought of the modular design, theoverall structure of a certain strap-on rocket could be decomposed into severalindependent components. The CAD parameterized templates and CAE analysistemplates for the main components and the whole model of the strap-on rocket havebeen established. Furthermore, the optimization design of the main carrying shellstructure is completed. The main work and achievements are summarized as follows:The concept and the functional characteristics of the digital prototype technologyas well as its application among the aircrafts at home and abroad are introduced. Inaddition, the trend in development of the digital prototype technology is analyzedbriefly.The CAD modeling technology based on the components is proposed. Accordingto the structural characters of the strap-on rocket, the CAD modeling rules and the CADmodeling scheme are made. Then, the CAD parametric templates of the tank, thebooster, the nose cone and so on are completed. Also, the whole CAD model of therocket is assembled. Furthermore, the information for the CAE analysis is integrated tothe CAD model.The CAE analysis technology based on the template is proposed. Using theSimXpert software, the inspection, evaluation and automatic correction technology offinite element mesh are carried out. The CAE analysis templates for the maincomponents and the whole model of the strap-on rocket are established, and theautomation of the pre-/post-processing and solving are realized.The CAD/CAE integrated structural optimization technology is proposed. Basedon the ModelCenter software, integrating with PRO/E、Patran and Nastran software, themain carrying shell structure of the strap-on rocker is optimized through the experimentdesign and sensitivity analysis. The weight of the shell is reduced when the staticstrength of the structure is statisfied.The research methods of the CAD/CAE integrated design technology proposed inthis thesis are helpful for other aircraft’s design.
