Research On Evolution And Planning Intervention Of The Polycentric Urban Spatial Structure

China is in a critical stage of rapid development of urbanization. Many bigdomestic cities have showed the characteristics of polycentric urban spatial structure, orare putting forward the spatial development strategies of shifting towards multi-centerurban spatial structure. Throughout the course of development of domestic andinternational multi-center urban spatial structure, in general, multi-center urban spatialstructure of cities could play a role in solving problems of big cites such as trafficcongestions, environmental degradations and so on. However they also have someproblems. Therefore, this paper hopes to clarity the essential characteristics and theproblems of the development process of polycentric urban structure through in-depthanalysis of the evolution course of polycentric urban spatial structure, and corrects theknowledge of polycentric urban spatial structure. Then it proposes some rationalplanning intervention targets and develops some effective planning interventionstrategies to guide the healthy development of polycentric urban spatial structure.The text consists of seven chapters, of which the third, fourth, fifth chapters arefocused content chapter.First, through the review of the evolution of domestic and internationalmulti-center urban spatial structure, it summaries that the evolution of polycentricurban spatial structure has experienced four stages，including the bud stage, the initialformation stage， the initial development stage and the adjustment stage. And itintroduces the theories of garden city，satellite city, organic evacuation，which hasguided the planning intervention of polycentric urban spatial structure.Secondly， after the analysis of four power factors， three main players and threemechanisms of multi-center urban spatial structure formation， it constructs thecomprehensive formation mechanism of multi-center urban spatial structure on the basisof the general dynamic mechanism of urban spatial structure evolution；Then it summs up the four development modes of polycentric urban spatialstructure，which emerges under the comprehensive formation mechanism. And itpoints out that all the polycentric urban spatial structures consist of four systemcomponents from the perspective of system theory. It also analyzes the maindevelopment problems of polycentric urban spatial structure. Then it introduces the necessity of planning intervention. And it proposes threeplanning intervention goals of compact and stretching spatial structure，complementaryand collaborative function division, coordinated development urban region, guided bythe theories of sustainable development and the three planning intervention guidances.Finally, it chooses the system components as the planning intervention factorsbasing on the elements analysis of the evolution process characteristics and the goalrelevance，and proposes some effective planning intervention strategies.The next is theempirical analysis, including the reviewing the evolution history of polycentric urbanspatial structure of Chongqing City, analyzing its formation mechanism, developmentissues and proposing appropriate planning intervention strategies.This paper starts from the evolutionary history of polycentric urban spatialstructure, going through the formation mechanism analysis and developmentcharacteristic and problem research， finally proposes some general planningintervention. It is a complete process. Hoping that, it can do some help for theknowledge and development of polycentric urban spatial structure.
