Highway cargo transportation occupies an important position in comprehensivetransportation system in China. Development of highway transportation also drivesChina truck market. Van is a kind of road freight transport vehicles, is composed of achassis mounted an independent closed carriage. At present, most of the van issingle-deck, its capacity and utilization is low, and manual loading and unloading leadsto low efficiency and high cost. This paper, which is supported by a project raised by Chongqing University and acompany, develops a double-deck automatic loading and unloading van to satisfy asegment market. The van combines ordinary van with loading and unloadingmechanism and double-deck cargo carry, which increases cargo capacity and decreasesloading and unloading cost to ensure a broad market. In order to ensure dynamiccharacteristics of the double-deck van, the paper also studies road excitation model andvibration responses of the van.The main contents are as follows:①Three design scheme are proposed according to the original parameters anddesign requirements, and the final plan is determined after comparison. Under selectedsolution, a prototype model is established by means of mechanical design of carriage, conveying structure and tail plate. Then, the hydraulic and electric system of the van isdesigned.②Road roughness of frequency domain and time domain model establishmentmethod are introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods isanalyzed. Chose the linear white noise filtering method to establish time-domain modelof half vehicle road roughness, and get time domain curves of road excitation byMatlab/Simulink simulation.③Establish vibration model of package and van system, then simulate inMatlab/Simulink software. With road random excitation as input, resolve equations andreceive system time domain response curves. After comparison results with literaturetest data, the accuracy of the model is proved.④Through prototype engineering design and theoretical analysis, the prototype instructure and vibration characteristics are proved be accord with the requirement ofnational standard and transportation. The trial-manufacture of prototype is carried outand relevant information is introduced. According to study of this subject, it can provide reference for development anddynamic characteristics study of the double-deck van. It is also make sense forefficiency promoting and transportation cost reduction.
