This subject is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation(NO.50705100,51275538). The new type of variable-thickness involute gear basedon composite modification will have broad application prospects in transfer gap, precision driving, and vehicle powertrain and so on. The backlash is one of theimportant factor of the gear transmission. It will affect the stability of the servo control, precision and sensitivity of the system. When the backlash is too small, gears are easy toheat, and the transmission efficiency is poor. The thesis expand research of the newvariable gear tooth thickness efficiency characteristics against different backlash. This article mainly contains:(1) Establish a mathematical analysis model according to the structuralcharacteristics of the new variable tooth thickness. And compile corresponding programto analysis its transmission efficiency characteristic. Try to identify the relationshipbetween backlash and transmission efficiency. It will provide a theoretical basis foradjusting the backlash, so that the gear pair will has a good transfer performance.(2) Establish a finite element model of the new variable gear tooth thickness withthe different size backlash as parameter. In addition, Consider lubrication and coolingconditions make a heat simulation analysis on the new type of variable-thicknessinvolute gear.(3) Take the constant power or constant torque and different backlash as conditions,Composite variable displacement gear tooth thickness carried out a experimental studyon composite variable displacement gear tooth thickness. Experimental results showthat the consistency between theoretical analysis and experimental is good.
