Vortex pump have advantages including low cost, small volume, simple and compactstructure, light weight, often used in small-flow and high-lift situation. So vortex pump iswidely used in refining and petrochemical industry, textile industry, agricultural watersupply, energy delivery and other fields. Especially as people to investigate in the field ofthe medical technology, aerospace technology and the other high-end fields in recent years,vortex pump also is gradually applied in the blood circulation system, the blood pump andthe aero-engine. But the efficiency of the vortex pump is generally only20%to40%,andthe efficiency of the small-power vortex pump is not more than30%. So studying theinternal flow field of vortex pump by numerical simulation method and improving thestructure of the pump to improve the performance have great academic value andeconomic significance.With the continuous development of computer technology and the computer fluiddynamics, the researches of flow rule have generally started using numerical simulationmethod. And to a certain extent, the method of numerical simulation can replaceexperimental study, reduce the cost and the test period of experimental studies, and cansimulate the internal flow field. This paper uses the numerical simulation method toanalyze the effect of the structural parameters on the internal flow field based on theresearch present situation of vortex pump. Choosing the optimal combination to improveits performance in the end.This paper makes research model based on the original model, the closed peripheralpump with symmetric impeller, and respectively studies the effect of the vane platethickness, the vane height, the vane angle and the vane number on the vortex pump’sperformance and the internal fluid flow situation keeping the impeller diameter and widthunchanged to select the best structural parameters of the impeller, and make the vortexpump to achieve the best performance.
