That the development of auto industry and highway mileage increasing lead toroad traffic accident also increases in great quantities.Road traffic accidents arecharacterized by high mortality and close relation to people’s travel.So it is paidmuch attention to by the whole community. There are no brake marks of the tiresespecially with the application of the ABS in modern vehicle.Therefore, an accurateand effective approach to identify the speed is a difficult problem in the car accidentnow.This paper introduces the classification of tire and the function of each part ofit. Characteristics of tire marks, with the tire in different states of motion, underdifferent pressure and load,as well as in different braking conditions,are analyzed.Then starting from tire marks, the paper analyses the friction characteristicsbetween tread rubber and road and the attachment mechanism of tire tread and hardroad. According to the author’s experience occupied in judicial authentication,thispaper sums up the extraction method of tire marks as well as announcements whenextracting the tire marks and the role of tire marks on the authentication ofaccidents under different circumstances.First of all,this paper presents vehicle’s braking distance comparison test andbraking deceleration test.The current widespread use of the attachment coefficientstandard is amended in this paper. The attachment coefficient of vehicles which areequipped with ABS while leave braking traces in traffic accidents is amended. Thisachievement has a great significance on increasing the accuracy of calculatingtraffic vehicles’ speed which are equipped with ABS.Then the paper presentsseveral methods to calculate traffic ABS vehicles’ speed while leave no brakingtraces.A selected traffic accident case is simulated by a multi-cylinder dynamicssoftware Pc–crash,and also it is analysed by the theoretical methods presented inthis paper. Comparing the theoretical results with the software simulation results,themethods and the attachment coefficient are proved correct.The research work done in this paper based on the real test.The attachmentcoefficient is amended and ABS vehicle speed calculation methods arepresented.Combined with simulation software, the calculation accuracy isimproved.It has a important reference value on instantaneous speed identification ofABS vehicle collision.
