With the acceleration of modern city development, especially the large-scale construction of the expressway,the rapid increase of urban vehicles and people’s trip quantity,all which make the traffic jam getting worse. With the advent of the pedestrian bridge, the urban transportation pressure is released, the driving speed is improved. Also, people’s demand for crossing a street is greatly satisfied. Apart from this, the pedestrian bridge’s landscape aesthetics is becoming a special regardful item in the city construction as well.In recent years, the number of pedestrian bridge construction in the large and medium-sized cities at home and abroad is increasing, and its landscape functions are also becoming highly valued. In the past, as its design and the coordination with the surrounding environment were neglected, so the city’s overall landscape was affected. What’s worse, some certain established pedestrian bridges did not fully effective, some people still cross the street blindly. Nowadays, a series of problems are emerging in the process of pedestrian bridge construction.Given this, Theses will do research on them. The thesis takes the coordination between the pedestrian bridge’s design and urban landscape as key point, by analyzing them, then combining the bridge’s design and construction, their evolution standards, and domestic and foreign relevant theories and researches, exploring and researching the application of pedestrian bridge to the cityscape. Through analyzing our domestic cities’pedestrian bridge cases, we can summarize the problems in the process of our pedestrian bridge construction and preview the future development tendency.This essay can be divided into six chapters to state the pedestrian bridge. The chapter1is the preface, which mainly expound the subject research’s background, aim and meaning, the current domestic research situation, the subject research’s main contents and measures, and the main innovations of the thesis. The chapter2outlines the pedestrian bridge from its origin, development history and features. The chapter3probes the pedestrian bridge’s landscape design, mainly elaborate on this from its linear design, modeling and landscape decoration. The chapter4analyzes the pedestrian bridge in the urban landscape, concentrating on its functions in the landscape, its landscape overview. The chapter5discusses the pedestrian bridge’s application to the urban landscape, including its principles and methods, the analysis of the superior pedestrian bridges at home and abroad, the further statement of its application and research combined with actual cases. The chapter6analyzes the pedestrian bridge’s current situation in the cityscape in Beijing, Shanghai and Jinan. Based on this, the problems existing in the pedestrian bridge construction can be concluded, the relevant optimization policy also can be put forward. Meanwhile, the future development tendency of the pedestrian bridge can be pictured boldly. Do hope all these researches illustrated above can provide effective reference for the pedestrian bridge’s application to urban landscape.
