Xanthium sibiricum Patrin(Compositae, Xanthium L.) is annual herb, mostly distributed in our country and it has rich resources. The herbal is bitter taste, micro cold and have anti-oxidation, anti-bacteria effect and so on, in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and anticancer etc potentially curative effect, in order to study the relationship between the chemical constituents and biological activity, to the chemical constituents of Xanthium sibiricum Patrin.Twenty compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, reversephase HPLC and recrystallization method from petroleum ether and ethylacetate fraction extract from the Xanthium sibiricum Patrin in this experiments. The chemical structures of the constituents were identified by means of physic-chemical and spectral date, They are: β-sitosterol(1), α-spinasterol(2), lasidiol p-methoxybenzoate(3), p-hydroxy benzoic acid(4), lupeol(5), hexacosanol(6), quercetin(7), xanthatin(8), lupe-none(9), lupeol acetate(10), taraxerol(11), Glyceol trioleate(12), apigenin(13), stigmasterol(14), luteolin(15), oleanolic acid(16), Glycerol linoleate(17), xanthinosin(18),p-anisic acid(19), saccharose(20).Applying the petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol extraction extract taken from Xanthium sibiricum Patrin to ten kinds of crop pathogens, including Setosphaeria turcica、Bipolaria maydis、Phyllostlcta melongenae Sawada、Fusarium oxysporum.sp.susumebrium Owen、Fusarium graminearum、Alternaria solani、Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.niveum、Cytospora sp.、Botrytis cinerea Pets.、Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn an antibacterial activity test was conducted. The results showed that the extract of petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol layer have inhibitory effect on plant pathogen, inhibitory effect of ethyl acetate extract layer is relatively better. But none of them had effect on the Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn. Meanwhile, we also did the activity test on the compound 1, 2, 5, 8, 9 and 11. The results showed that: the inhibitory rate of compound 1, 2 and 5 on plant pathogen of Cytospora sp. achieves 100%, the inhibitory rate of compound 5, 8, 9, 11 on Fusarium graminearum is above 50%, and the inhibitory rate of compound 8 on plant pathogen of Fusarium oxysporum.sp.susumebrium Owen achieves 88.6%.
