Since the industrial revolution, mankind has created unprecedented material prosperity. However, the environmental problems caused in the process of development have brought unprecedented threats and challenges to the human survival environment. In 2014, China and the United States issued Sino US Joint Declaration on climate, in which the Chinese government promised that in 2030, non fossil energy consumption in primary energy consumption proportion increased to 20%. At the Copenhagen conference in 2009, China pledged that in 2020 carbon emissions intensity will reduce by 40%-45% than 2005. These emission reduction targets fully reflect the responsibility of China as a big country, but at the same time, it also put forward higher requirements for carbon emission reduction in China. Guangdong province is one of the first national low carbon demonstration provinces, studying on influencing factors of carbon emissions of Guangdong is important as it will play a guiding role on the emission reduction work of China. The main contents of this paper include: first, sum up domestic and foreign related research literature and theory. Second, introduce the research scope and the theoretical framework of this paper. Third make a comprehensive analysis on the trend of economic development, energy consumption and carbon emission in Guangdong. Forth, make STIRPAT model, using time series data quantitative analyze the influence factors of carbon emissions in Guangdong Province. Through the analysis, draws the conclusion: it was found that from 1995 to 2013, the population size is the main influencing factor of carbon emissions in Guangdong; population urbanization rate had the least impact; population size, per capita GDP and energy intensity have positive effects on carbon emissions; the effect of industrial structure on carbon emissions is small and not significant. Finally, on the basis of the above analysis, the paper put forward policy recommendations: first, upgrade the industrial structure, improve the quality of the economy in Guangdong province. Second, improve the people’s awareness of energy conservation, and promote a low-carbon consumption structure.Third, develop green energy, improve energy efficiency. Fourth, give full consideration to the actual situation of the cities, make suitable emission reduction plans.
