The reasonable support width of the gateway filled prop is a important parameter for guarantee the coal mining face mining operation rate. The paper regard transport gateway gob-side entry retaining project of HuaJinshaqu mine 2048 as the background. We can get the reasonable support width of gob-side entry retaining the gateway filled prop from studying the typical project. Therefore, the paper is written on the foundation of theoretical analysis. Comparing the different support width for the gateway filled prop by using numerical simulation, rationalizing the support width by adopting pre-support the gateway filled prop technology and monitoring and checking if the gateway filled prop support could satisfy the requirement.Therefore, analyzing the features of the surrounding rock activities offers efficiency basic for guarantee the support width and strength. Selecting the reasonable support width could satisfy support strength on the gateway filled prop. Cutting off the roof pressure release is one of the key factors of keeping the surrounding rock stability. Studying the interaction between the gateway filled prop and roof rock, We can find there is a higher bearing force during the process of roof rock falling. The reasonable support width of filled prop can cut off the initial support resistance timely and keep the surrounding rock stress stability.We can build mechanical model to analysis the key rock stress, calculating the gateway filled prop loading and get the support resistance computing formula according to failure theory of plates on roof rock rational division. We get the initial support computational method of the gateway filled prop according to the relationship between support resistance and support strength. From analyzing the factor that influencing the gateway filled prop, we know that the width of the gateway filled prop getting bigger, the support resistance will get bigger and there exists a reasonable value for the gateway filled prop support width.We put numerical simulation software into simulating the surrounding rock stress and deformation regular on different width of the gateway filled prop during gob-side entry retaining. The analytical result shows that the reasonable width is 3 meter to control the surrounding rock stability effectively, width and height ratio of 0.7-0.75. The combined effect when the width is used the reasonable width of the gateway filled prop is not so better according to site application. Conservation of mass concrete backfill mining face longer restricted rate, and early support role played poorly early. In this case, Point out the idea of pre-support the gateway filled prop technology,reduce filled prop support width to 1 meter, achieve the width and height ratio of 0.25, simulate its possibility and apply it on 24208 the coal mining face. Finally, we get the ideal result of improving the rate of mining operation and economic benefits.
