According to the characteristics of heat transfer and movement of the slab in the mold, an analysis method has been developed for 3D heat transfer in mold for slab based on the inheritance of slab in continuous casting process, by using the thought of node temperature transfer layer by layer. 3D steady temperature field can be obtained by establishing a numerical model of transient thermal conductivity, with ANSYS finite element software in this method. The slab heat transfer law, obtained through analysis, is consistent with the actual results. It verifies the accuracy of the 3D transient heat conduction model.Especially, this method can be used to analyze thin slab solidification process within the funnel-shaped mold. 3D transient heat conduction model of thin slab within the funnel-shaped mold can be established by the thought of node temperature transfer layer by layer. Through the analysis of ANSYS finite element software in this method, the distribution of the slab mold 3D steady-state temperature field of heat transfer and the conclusion of the slab heat transfer law in transverse cross-section and longitudinal section. can be obtained. Comparing simulation results of the plate-shaped thin slab model and a funnel-shaped thin slab model, it can be got that the difference of heat transfer law between the different shape models thin slab continuous casting. The results show that the temperatures of thin slab model with funnel-shaped are higher in the corner and center. The reason is that the funnel area expands the storage space of molten steel in the mold, the residence time of the molten steel and the total quantity of heat increases and the temperature decreases slowly. So the wide surface center temperature of funnel slab is higher.Base on the slab temperature field in the thin slab mold, the 3D steady-state temperature field can be drawn by the establishment of 3D steady-state heat conduction model of copper of the mold.
