| Drum mixer is one of main equipments applied in iron sintering plant. Its main function is to mix and pelletize various mineral materials collected in scale by the means of rotation. With the development of modern engineering construction and industrial production, requirement from iron industry on the outputs of drum mixers is raising, and so mixing equipments are getting larger and larger, which consequently has resulted in many problems. For example, vibration and noise of metal-roller drum mixers are very severe; for rubber-tyre-drived drum mixers, the vibration is much smaller, while the output is too low to satisfy the raising requirement.Adopting polyurethane tyres for support and pin gear for driving, new type pin gear transmission drum mixers have combined main advantages of both former type drum mixers. So the pin gear transmission drum mixer is an excellent solution for decreasing model and increasing outputs. Based on a large number of related documents, this paper did some researches on new type pin gear transmission drum mixers as follow:Firstly, the laws of motion of materials in drum mixers was analyzed, including five motion states of the bed and the movement of particles in thrown and fallen state.Secondly, the relationship between the laws of motion and mixing and pelletizing effect was declared. The maximum speed for mixing was conformed based on lines of departure drowned by MATLAB;Thirdly, using discrete element method software EDEM, this paper has performed simulations of motor process of particles and motion state of the bed in various conditions, which is a proof for the stated laws of motion. According to the results of these simulations and adopting the method of regression equation, this paper has figured out the relationship among all the technological parameters of drum mixers, which is the main foundation for searching for the best technological parameters. At last, using mechanical analysis method, this paper has optimized the radial and axial distribution of supporting tyres, aiming to balance the load on each of tyres, which has improved the using effect of supporting tyres. |
