There’re many excellent properties in cotton fabric, such as: good hygroscopicity, soft handing, warmth retention property and comfortable sensation. And it is well received by consumers. Therefore, cotton fiber has important applications in the textile and garment industry. But China’s cotton resources are limited. It is always in short supply, and problems still exist in the dye utilization, anti wrinkle shape retention, water conductivity, and the aspects of antifouling, waterproof, anti mildew. And compared with it, polyester, with high dyeing rate, is good at shape retention property and drapability, and the production capability is surplus relatively; but its properties of moisture regain, absorbency and permeability are poor, which limit its development.The current developed super imitation cotton fiber, of which the high moisture absorption fiber’s moisture absorption rate reached only 2.0 %, and the best cationic modified normothermic dyeing super imitation cotton fiber’s moisture regain is 3.0 %( when conventional polyester at 0.4 %, and cotton at 8 %), needs to enhances its hygroscopicity and moisture regain during its dyeing and finishing process. And it’s the key of the dyeing and finishing technology research. On this background, studies on the super imitation cotton’s dyeing and finishing technology, will be helpful to the formation of the product and its promotion in the market, which can have an effective use of China’s excess polyester capacity, thus increasing the added value of the polyester products, and relieving the contradiction between supply and demand of domestic cotton in some extent. In summary, it has practical value and important significance of the research.This paper is devoted to the study of dyeing and finishing of super imitation cotton, and to improve the moisture absorption, hydrophilicity and antistatic properties of the super imitation cotton through finishing. Two types of super imitation cotton were studied: modified polyester fiber and two kinds of easy cation-dyeable polyester(T917, T919).Through the research on dyeing in different temperatures and drawing the dyeing rate curves of Yilun fabric. The best temperature required for Yilun dyeing is about 110 ~ 120 Celsius degree, the holding time is less than 30 minutes. The process is saving energy and cost, when compared with polyester. And super imitation cotton is better than polyester in dyeing performance: In the same dyeing condition, super imitation cotton is better in apparent color yield. After dyeing, color fastness to rubbing are at level 4 or above; light fastness varies with the species of dye; soaping resistance, resistance to sublimation fastness are similar to polyester. The soap washing fastness of common disperse dyes isn’t good, while it is excellent of the high water disperse dyes.Through the study on the dyeing properties of cationic modified polyester. We can know that its dyeing process is more energy saving than polyester. And cationic dyes have bright color, with complete chromatography. After dyeing, the color fastness, soaping fastness, color fastness to sublimation of the dyed fabrics are all excellent. The color fastness to sunlight varies from different dyes.On the basis of abundant experiments, I screened two good agents: the Multi-functional finishing agent TF-406 C and the hydrophilic softener. Two kinds of finishing methods were used to compare the different effects of the agents: the method of dip rolling and dyeing-finishing in the same bath. The dip rolling method has better finishing effect, but the durability is poorer, the effect of the latter is poor, but the durability is better.Through the study of different post treatment temperature and time, finding out the optimal padding process of modified polyester fiber: preparation of finishing liquid → immersion in rolling(rolling over rate of 60 % ~ 80 %)→ pre-drying(105 ℃ × 3 min) → baking(130 ℃ × 20 s); the optimal padding process of easy cation-dyeable polyester: preparation of finishing liquid → immersion in rolling(rolling over rate of 60 % ~ 80 %)→ pre-drying(65 ℃ × 3 min) → baking(120 ℃ × 20 s). Dyeing and finishing in one bath: the most suitable concentration of finishing agent is 2%, heat setting conditions of modified polyester fiber: 160 ℃ × 25 s, heat setting conditions of easy cation-dyeable polyester: 110 ℃ × 20 s. After treatment, the feel, hydrophilicity, antistatic effect of the fabrics is better.
