Drying is an important sector during screen printing, affecting the product quality, one of the most energy-intensive processing units. The dryer requirements are different with diversity of materials to be process, dyes, physical parameters, and quality standards. There is no one dryer able to be applied everywhere. Considering common requirements and specific industrial conditions, costs, and quality standards, it’s a wise method to design one customized dryer in order to securing function requirements economically and environment-friendly.In this paper, choosing a high-performance PLC as core controller, sorting out the dryer working process based on needs of the engineering, optimizing design of existing dryer from two aspects of hardware and software to complete design on control system of a screen printing dryer.This design includes integrated control system solution, selection of key components and solution for each function module including mechanical motion module, temperature control module, heating module, signal processing module and etc.Among, the temperature control is a key part of the dryer control system, after an in-depth study of PID control, the paper using a SCR based on digital PID control as a specific thermostat, independent from core control system of PLC.Finally, the design on control system of a dryer makes it through laboratory and field testing, obtaining testing report, as a result, the design meeting the design requirements and achieving a predetermined function.
