Open-pit mining, as a kind of high efficiency and high yield mining method, occupies a very important position in the domestic and international mining methods. But with the exploitation of the work carried out, open-pit mining will cause large slopes. These large slopes, will lead to geological disasters such as landslides, collapses, dumping,or other geological disasters. These disasters are likely to endanger the lives and safety of workers and bring property damage to the open-mine. Rational and effective monitoring of deformation of large slopes can prevent the occurrence of disaster.This paper studies terrain feature analysis and deformation monitoring function division of mining area of open-pit mines. Firstly, this paper studies and discusses the method of establishing fine digital elevation model in the special terrain of open-mine. In the process of the establishment of the irregular triangle net in the open-mine, the slope line and the bottom line should be used as the constraint conditions to retain the terrain features. According to the production layout of the open-mine and certain principles, the open-min is divided into four functional areas: the side end group, the mining area, the inner dump and the stripping zone. In four functional areas, the terrain features of different functional areas are extracted and analyzed based on the digital elevation model of open pit mine, such as slope, aspect and surface relief, Main deformation monitoring technologies of existing open pit mine are discussed and analyzed, such as Measuring robot, GPS technology, GB-InSAR and 3D laser scanning. Through the comparison of the digital elevation model of the Open-pit mine in two stages, the change of surface topography of the open pit mine is analyzed. A comprehensive analysis of open-pit mine four major functional areas of terrain features, each functional area in the upper slope flat role and the various functional areas of the terrain variety.Finally, according to the characteristics of the analysis of the four functional areas, a reasonable deformation monitoring method is proposed for the specific functional areas.
