With the rapid development of modern industry, the demand for ordinary steel industries is going to approach saturation slowly. However, on the other hand, the demand of high strength steel has continued to grow, so the dimensional accuracy and surface quality also put forward higher requirements. As one of the main factors affecting the rolling speed, the stability of the mill is becoming the problem which we have to overcome it in the rolling process. The vibration of mill main drive system will affect the quality of strip, if we ignore its result, the surface of strip will appear alternating light and dark stripes, in particular, it will have a significant fluctuation in the thickness of the stripes in the environment of strong vibration. Thereby affecting the quality of steel products. Therefore, the study of rolling mill main drive system is needed to pay more attention. The main contents are as follows:At the job site, we firstly made a test about the vibration of mill drive system, then we got the vibration signals obtained. By the process of analyzing the calculations, we were able to discover that the vibration includes regular impaction in the rolling mill main drive system, moreover, the impact frequency was the same as the curved gear meshing frequency, then we could infer that and the vibration source position may be located at the curved gear in the main drive system.Through the theoretical analysis, we get the motion characteristics of the curved gear when the main drive system exits spindle axis inclination. we model the inner and outer teeth with the help of a software called PRO / E, then we assemble the parts together. We can analysis the model by using the Finite element software, thus we could get the contact stress of curved gear and the relationship of stress and different axis inclinations will be concluded easily and succinctlyThis paper established respectively the lumped parameter system of main drive system, which considered the movement characteristic of curved gear in the main drive system, the vibration of this model takes into account the coupling of torsional vibration, vertical vibration and horizontal vibration at the position of curved gear. If we compared it to the previous model, we can discovered this new model could better reflect much complexity and authenticity of mill main drive system’s vibration. Through collecting the lumped parameter system analysis, the natural frequency and the main formation of the main driving system would be calculated by simulating. It also verifies that the curved gear is the vibration source position in rolling mill main drive system. It provides a theoretical reference for further study of the vibration characteristics of rolling mill main drive system.
