In recent years, with the improvement of industrialization level unceasingly, to meet the production requirements and improve the production efficiency, belt conveyor aims at long distance, large capacity, high-power directions. As the belt conveyor trending to the large-scale, its dynamic characteristics has become more complex, as an important part of the conveyor belt, the tensioning system has directly influence on the dynamic characteristics of the conveyor, its performance is directly related to the conveyor working safely and stably.Firstly, this paper summarizes the development course of belt conveyor,tensioning system and its research status of overseas and domestic. On the basis of the analysis of the conveyor belt viscoelasticity, the Vogit model is chosen as the suitable description of the conveyor belt viscoelastic properties.Through studying the transmission belt conveyor and its tension theory, the required tension values of conveyer belt under different working conditions is determined by the calculation and the requirements tension system that can make conveyor tensioning system good performance have been analyzed.Secondly, the discrete dynamics model of automatic tensioning system is established by adopting the finite element method. The simulation model of a whole mining raw material belt of Tangshan is built through Matlab/Simulink simulation software based the the discrete dynamics. Through the simulation analysis, the speed of conveyor belt units,the dynamic tension and the movement characteristics of tensioning the car can be acquired when using automatic tensioning system.The research of comparing automatic tensioning system with heavy hammer type tensioning system shows that automatic tensioning system is superior to the traditional gravity tensioning system in reducing conveying tension, and the tension travel.The results of simulation research for automatic tensioning system provide a theoretical basis for tensioning system design and its field application.At last, an automatic tension control system is designed for a mining raw material belt conveyor in Tangshan. This system adopts the AB Control Lgoix series PLC as the controller and is equipped with a tension sensor. This system is connected with the mine automation system so that it realizes the real-time monitoring and controlling of conveyor belt tension. This tension system has the characteristics of fast response, easily controlling, simply maintenance and so on. It also overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional tension device that can not adjust the force of the conveyor automatically.This equipment can also reduce failure rate and improve the production efficiency, so that it has a good promotion prospect.
