The study of Micromachining is a very important direction of machine now and in the future, and the manner of machining become more and more important. Micro-EDM becomes a very important method of Micromachining, which depends on its unique processing advantages. So the study of Micro-EDM tools becomes a hot research of many study institutions. For our thesis, we develop a comprehensive set of micro-EDM based on the research of technology, tools, and control system for micro-EDM.We design the overall system of platform structure of micro-EDM tool and set up the main structure of platform based on linear motor and grating. In the platform, the main structure is placed on the granite base so as to reduce vibration. In order to make the range of processing become wider, we place Y-axis on X-axis and place Z-axis aside. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the micro-EDM platform and we find that the precision of the platform is reach to micron processing level.The control system of micro-EDM tool has a direct effect on the processing precision and quality. We design a hardware structure of the control system based on PC and PMAC. Eventually, we set up a control system containing shaft adapter module, acquisition module, input and output module and so on.This structure is very convenient for the second expansion.Based on PComm32 dynamic link library, we design the software system of micr-EDM tool. Furthermore, we develop various functional modules of software system and HCI based on VB. In order to make the tool reach a better response performance, we conduct PID tuning for each motor and obtain the best optimized parameters and variables for the software system.At last, we debug the micro-EDM tool and use it to process. And we also study the effect of some mian parameters to processing.The experiments show that our tool has good response, high accuracy and high quality and it is in full compliance with the requirements of micro-EDM.So it can be used for steady micro-EDM processing of deposition and removal...
