At present, urbanization and industrialization in our country develop rapidly, while the utilization form of land resources becomes less optimistic, of which damaged industrial and mining wasteland exacerbates the contradiction between people and land. On this background, this thesis intends to explore the radical way to relieve the contradictions of land resources constraints by mining industrial and mining wasteland in response to the pilot reclamation of industrial and mining wasteland by Ministry of Land and Resources.Suitability evaluation is a key in the process of land reclamation and can be applied in the industrial and mining wasteland. There are three advantages by using suitability evaluation. First, determine the direction of land reclamation and provide scientific basis for planning of land use. Second, maximize mining potential of land resources and implement economical use of land effectively and reasonably. Third, put forward engineering plans targeting land reclamation in order to realize effective protection of ecological environment guided by sustainable development with the ultimate goal of reconstructing ecosystem.According to the particularity of industrial and mining wasteland, this thesis puts forward suitability evaluation system different from the general land reclamation. First, collecting the information of industrial and mining wasteland such as land destruction, utilization situation, geological features, economic data and so on, then processing the data through the interpretation, organization, management of GIS platform, and storing the data of each layer in the form of grid. Then, based on the evaluation unit obtained by superposing layer, analyzing and simulating geospatial data by the use of GIS, to get suitability evaluation matrix of the study area. Next, according to the index classification and grading system, deciding and completing the reclamation suitability analysis of industrial and mining wasteland by the scientific and reasonable decision system. Finally, this thesis selects Yangguanying iron mine in Qianan as a case study, proves the feasibility of the suitability evaluation system based on GIS and auxiliary decision, and testifies its theoretical and practical significance in policy, society, land use efficiency and theoretical technology.
