Comparative Study On The Collection Of Furniture In The School Of Architecture Tsinghua And Physical Environment Theory By Liang Sicheng

Chinese furniture culture, as an important part of the Chinese brilliant artistic treasures, gradually formed a section of the form, each with a unique style features, especially its peak Ming and Qing furniture. The study of ancient furniture will make us understand the development of production at the time, living habits, thoughts and feelings, and aesthetic taste, etc. from one side.Now in the School of Architecture Tsinghua Reference Room on the second floor has a precious collection of furniture and artifacts, mostly belonging to the treasures of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with pear and sandalwood-based materials. It is so pity that for the source of these furniture, use and inheritance so far no one has been specially combing and research. There are indications that these furniture were collected in the leadership of Mr. Liang Sicheng during the formation of the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University, and the presentation and teaching should be their main purpose. In the meantime, they have close relationship with Physical Environment Theory created by Mr. Liang Sicheng.Mr. Liang Sicheng is the cause of the pioneers of Chinese history of science, the famous Chinese architects and architectural educators. He devoted his life to the research of Chinese ancient architecture and architectural education, which systematically investigate, organize, research the history and theory of ancient Chinese architecture. He is the ancient architecture disciplines pioneer and founder. Physical Environment Theory as the core idea of Mr. Liang Sicheng Architecture and architectural education, which has been raised from half a century, led and created the early glorious history of teaching and research of the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University.Through data collection, collation instance investigation and analysis, and interviews with other characters, author re-sorts the origin and heritage of the collections of furniture of the School of Architecture, and furniture collections digitized collation and research. Base on the results of previous studies, drawing on research methodology perspective of art history, author re-studies Physical Environment Theory from a new angle. In the meantime, the author tries to complete a comparative study on the furniture collection and Physical Environment Theory from the characters and styles of collection furniture itself in the School of Architecture Tsinghua, through exploring the relationship between classical Chinese furniture and architecture, as well as furniture and associated Physical Environment Theory.Through the study found that now the School of Architecture Tsinghua of these collections of furniture had no doubt Mr. Liang Sicheng for the shape of the environment and laid on teaching tool for the teaching scenarios using. By compact design composition, dynamics, and other aspects of the scene, so that students have the psychological experience and behavior experiences, and combine visual, hearing, smell, touch a variety of sensory characteristics together. Then they should create a feeling of traditional furniture out of the elegant, humanities, plain, solemn atmosphere, and increase perceptual theory to shape the environment, and really establish a new era architect.
