With the rapid development of China’s manufacturing industry, China has become the world’s largest exporter of clothing. At present, the total number of China’s clothing manufacturing enterprises is more than 100000. These enterprises that use the automatic spreading machine instead of the artificial spreading machine are less than 4%, and most of these enterprises are full foreign-owned enterprises and joint- ventures. In the developed countries abroad, numerical control, intelligent and networking has gradually become the development trend of clothing industry. With the development of the domestic clothing industry, the number of the automatic spreading machine is increasing rapidly. As the key equipment of the clothing manufacturing industry, developing safe and reliable, high degree of automation of spreading machine is very important. Now, with the labor costs increasing gradually in China, domestic medium and small-sized clothing enterprises has been seriously restricted by the lack of automation clothing production equipment.The research background and significance, domestic and foreign research level and development status of the spreading machine and its intelligent remote monitoring system are introduced in this paper. The paving process, the typical structure of the modern spreading machine, the common failure and failure causes of the spreading machine are analyzed. Combined with PLCs network control, servo drive, GPRS wireless communication and other advanced technologies, the overall design scheme of the spreading machine and its remote monitoring system was determined.According to the functional characteristics of the spreading machine, combined with the modern numerical control technology, the mechanical structure of the spreading machine has been improved. And the three-dimensional solid model of the laying machine has been established by Solid Works. PPI network control system of spreading machine based on master-slave type PLCs and touch screen has been researched. The circuit design, the design of servo control, master- slave type PLCs programming, touch screen configuration, electrical cabinet installation wiring, encoder and the sensor installation wiring have been studied. The control system has been debugged.A remote monitoring system based on GPRS wireless communication is designed. And the overall framework of the system, the principle of the system, the fault diagnosis reasoning algorithm based on production rules and the remote fault diagnosis software have been researched. Using Kingview6.55 development software, the spreading machine remote fault diagnosis software is designed. Through the online diagnosis of the spreading machine, the abnormal control system, the alarm of the servo drive, the driving device damage, etc. can be found in time. So, more serious equipment damage or personal injury is avoided.Spreading cloth and remote online monitoring experiment are carried out. The experiment shows that the system can effectively complete the automatic spreading cloth, and the accuracy and efficiency are greatly improved. Remote monitoring system with functions of remote control and fault diagnosis, and reliable operation, simple operation, can effectively improve the safety and reliability of the spreading machine.
