Study On The Reference And Application Of The Arts And Craft Movement Lamps

The research focus of this dissertation is on the analysis of the arts and crafts movement lamp design and its aesthetics basis. Discussion on the contemporary lighting design concept for the integrity, nature and tradition have been conducted.. It has explored the purpose, significance and contents of lamp design process from the conceptual design to the actual design. It has aimed to provide a benchmark for the modern landscape design of lamps and lanterns with a combination of research and application in practice. It has emphasized the lamp lighting design as an important content. The study has considered to merge lighting shape with the environment, to have aesthetic effect in both day and night time of the outdoor landscape lighting environment. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters:Chapter 1: It summarizes the background for the research. It has emphasized the purpose and significance of this research from the extensive literature review. It has rationalized the necessity for the research topic. The evolution for art development, important people and main theories are discussed.Chapter 2: The detailed research and analyses have been conducted. It has included the aesthetics consideration for lighting design and its impact. It has introduced the integral and natural lighting design concept in the modern arts and crafts movement and compared it with the traditional design through its the content, the purpose and significance.Chapter 3: The practical applications and discussions are included in this chapter. A case study has been conducted on Maoshan Cultural and Leisure Street after the discussions of different aspects of modern lightening design. It has started from the its functional layout, area analysis and construction consideration. It has provided the data and basis for the landscape lighting design for this street with based on the specific lighting fixtures selection.Chapter 4. The conclusions and future work are included in this chapter. It concluded the important findings from this research and identified the future research needed to be continued. The practical suggestions have been put forwarded for the future landscape lighting design.
