To seek a more efficient mode of loading tobacco to improve the curing quality, the writer takes K326 as a testing variety and uses two updraft curing barns to give a contrastive experiment of the van-loose curing and traditional hanging curing, making a comparison of the quality and economic benefit of tobaccos after curing and studying the dynamic change of main chemical components of tobacco in the process of box curing. What we have got are as follows:(1) The van-loose curing has an obvious advantage over the hanging tobacco curing in GW/DW ratio, proportion of superior tobacco and average price with the improvement in appearance quality and the fall in economic cost. Physically, there is a remarkable difference in the leaf width of the middle leaves and the leaf thickness of the upper leaves and the weight of a leaf in the middle leaves in the box curing is heavier than that in the hanging curing. In chemical components, the content of the total sugar and the reducing sugar is higher in the box curing than that in the hanging curing and the content of nicotine and total nitrogen in the box curing is lower than that in hanging curing.(2) In the van-loose curing, the water loss speed in the upper leaves, middle leaves and lower leaves generally turns from slowness to quickness before 108 hours and accelerates after 48 hours while the water loss speed in the hanging curing is slow throughout. The change of starch content mainly lies where color turns yellow and is fixed, presenting the degradation rule from quickness to slowness to quickness.12 hours and 60 hours are the two nodes. In the whole process of curing, the content of starch in the upper leaves is more than that in the middle leaves, which is more than that in the lower leaves. The degradation of the box curing is more than that in the hanging curing. The content of total soluble sugar reducing sugar increases with the extension of curing time and after 96 hours it is becoming stable, a little higher than that in the hanging curing.(3) In the box curing, the total nitrogen content decreases with the extension of time. The content of the upper leaves is more than that of the middle leaves, which is more than that of the lower leaves. The degradation rule of protein turns from slowness to quickness to slowness in the processing of curing with the content of protein in the upper leaves more than that in the middle leaves, which is more than that in the lower leaves and the content of protein in the box curing is a litter less than that in the hanging curing. The degradation rule of amino acid content is the same as that of protein, but the content in the box curing is higher than that in the hanging curing. The degradation rule of nicotine content is the same as that of protein and amino acid content and there is almost no change in the upper leaves, middle leaves and lower leaves with nicotine content lower in the box curing than that in the hanging curing.
