| Contemporary Education Problems of preschoolers have been attracting more and more attention in society. How to help pre-school children to receive their elementary education in different aspects such as intellectual development,interest cultivation and personality formation is a problem which has been concerned by all of educators and parents.Since preschool children are affected by physical development and psychological development characteristics, they have their unique cognitive style when reading books. Therefore, the design of children’s books should be designed according to the characteristics of the cognitive development of children.Children’s picture book is a new form which is combined by visual elements such as content, form, decoration and others. It is an important category of children’s books,and it can be regarded as the first time children getting access to culture when they have the cognitive ability.High quality of picture books usually have practical, fun, aesthetic, artistic and other characteristics. It not only can cultivate the aesthetic sense of the children, but also can exercise the thinking ability and creativity of children.With the age of the information comes, the reading ways has been changed, paper reading is less popular than other new reading ways. In this case, it is such a challenge for traditional reading ways, and designers should explore this issue in order to help children’s picture books stand out from this situation.Children’s picture books should not only be suitable for their physical and mental development, which not only plays a guiding role in the educational process,but also need have readable and interesting features. This article is based on the Swiss educator Jean Piaget’s Pre-operational Stage in cognitive developmental theory and other related educational theories. Through summarizing the theme content,layout arrangement, page layout and other aspects of the design of some high quality children’s picture books from home and abroad, we regard children in 2-7 years old as the study population and use the characteristics of children with physical and mental development to explore the new forms of children’s picture books design. Therefore, we put forward a new thinking and view about the future design of children’s picture books. |
