Over the years, with the continuous development of China’s steel industry, the technology of steel production is also rising. The quality of steel in many companies have reached the world level. More than 90% of steel has produced by continuous casting which is the main technology in steel industry. As the core structure of continuous casting machines, Crystallizer’s inner wall surface quality directly affects the quality of the casting molding.In this paper, the mold wall of copper processing is the main subject of study. By combining the processing requirements of the mold wall surface, a piece of equipment to process large pieces of non-ferrous metal plate has been designed. The equipment is designed to reduce the labor intensity of workers and to improve the working environment and processing efficiency of parts that have plate surface in the factory.The primary coverage of this paper is below:Firstly, according to the process requirement of crystallizer slab, the process analysis is carried out. Belt grinding and polishing wheel polishing process are drawn and by comparing two processes, the polishing wheel polishing is selected as a crystallizer slab surface processing program. But because the polishing wheel polishing is generally used as the rough polishing process, the feasibility of its actual production remains to be verified. So the polishing wheel polishing method is verified by the experiment. Through the analysis of the experimental results, there are some deficiencies being found in the process. So as to put forward the corresponding improvement suggestions to provide reference for the next step of machine tool design.Then, the overall plan of the machine tool is determined according to the process requirement of the crystallizer slab. The overall layout of the machine tool and the main drive part of the machine tool are determined by the results of the analysis of the process of the slab. And combining with the transmission system of the machine tool, the motion parameters, the dynamic parameters and the dimension parameters of the machine tool are determined. The productivity of the crystallizer slab is estimated using the experimental results.Finally, the design of the main structure of the machine tool is carried out. The design of the grinding head which is the core components of the machine tool contains the improvement of traditional grinding polishing wheel through which the retention of polishing wheel polishing paste is enhanced, the design of the polishing wheel quick change mechanism according to the production need, the arrangement of the cleaning tube and supply pipe and the design of the lifting and pressing mechanism which is suitable for the repeated washing of the polishing wheel. The feed mechanism of the machine tool are mainly used for grinding head in S shape processing route of crystallizer of slab surface and repeated polishing, so the corresponding return mechanism is designed. Design of transmission mechanism mainly contain the design of transmission system of synchronous belt transmission, gear transmission and worm drive. By using the method of SolidWorks modeling and carrying on the modal analysis and the static analysis through the WORKBENCH the machine tool is designed which is aimed to enhance the vibration resistance and rigidity of the gantry and the base structure.
