| Due to the extraordinary advantages of resource conservation and environmental friendliness, ecological technologies are widely used in city construction to solve urban ecological problems and respond to the energy crisis. Different ecological technologies have different performances and show regional differences. The lack of suitability evaluation standard research and systematic arrangement is not conducive to the rational use and popularized application of ecological technology.In this study, meaning of ecological technology was redefined by clarifying such relevant concepts and theories as ecological technology, appropriate technology and eco-city. Ecological technologies and application experiences were collected and analyzed. Ecological technology system structure and evaluation methods of selecting appropriate technologies were discussed. Moreover, an in-depth research on how to systematically apply ecological technology to city construction has been explored, with Dongtan Eco-city as a case.The main achievements of this study are summarized as follows:(1) Eco-technology system was established. The system is divided into three levels:categories, elements, and technical types. This system includes 5 major categories of elements:source and environment protection, new energy, environmental protection material, waste utilization and information resource and involves 18 elements and 36 technical types. Under the guidance of the ecological technology system, an open eco-technology library consisting of 106 common ecological technologies was established.(2) The eco-technology system for Dongtan Eco-city was established. It included two parts:adjustive ecological technology system and eco-city construction content. It was composed of two parts (basis and support) and included 6 subsystems:green building, ecological infrastructure, green transportation, clearer energy, waste recovery, and smart management.(3) Assessment methods and standards of selecting appropriate technologies forDongtan Eco-city were established. The suitability evaluation system of eco-technologies for Dongtan Eco-city was also established. It contained 5 criteria (ecology, economy, practicality, compatibility, and advancement) and 15 indexes. With the system, eco-technologies in the open eco-technology library were evaluated and 39 eco-technologies with the high suitability were selected. In addition,8 eco-technologies applied in Dongtan Eco-city were evaluated. According to the evaluation results, the general suitability was good.The ecological technology system of eco-city, open eco-technology library and suitability evaluation system established in the study will provide the scientific and technological supports for the construction of Dongtan Eco-city. The results also contribute to eco-city construction in other cities in China. |
