Troop uniform elements are the most basic and wide-spread elements of all the uniform elements. It has become a symbol in fashion design which conveys interior cultural connotations through its unique forms. Over recent years, with global vintage trend, troop uniform elements win the hearts of many famous fashion designers all over the world and present in their design works in rich and colorful forms. That’s where lies on the value of this thesis.In modern fashion design, apart from the pursuit of old-style troop uniform elements, people nowadays have their own characteristics in this era:for one thing, they continue to extremely perform the sense of power, for another, they try to the unique quality which comes from mix-up with other elements. The later makes people think if the elements could be the important method in representing styles. Besides, technology brings much more possibilities than ever before.This thesis mainly focuses on three layers to illustrate the application of troop uniform elements in modern fashion design. On the first place, basic theory is constructed here including the study on the history of the development of troop styles and the understanding of its structures and characteristics. Secondly, this thesis will comb and make concept of the applications of troop uniform elements. Then with cases, conclusions will be drawn on four applicative methods of troop uniform elements in fashion design-mix up, deconstruction, destruction and metaphor. The third aspect which will be shown in Chapter Four is the body of this thesis. Based on the conclusions in last chapter, a thorough analysis of the application of troop uniform elements in fashion design will be made based on rich practical cases. At the area of plane structure, this thesis will tell modern characteristic presentation of troop uniform elements based on the characteristics of elements and construction of colors and shapes. At the area of three dimensional composition, the thesis, taking alienation of shapes and deconstructions of clothes structures as object, will illustrate the characteristics of troopuniform elements in three dimension modeling. The second and third parts are of great importance in this thesis and many outstanding cases in fashion shows are applied to find out the logic relationships between concrete manifestation techniques of fashion design and its substantive characteristics.
