The spiral groove is important structural element of the composition of the twist drill. It is the cutting fluid and chips out of the channel. The Groove radial truncate reasonable distribution directly affect the strength and stiffness of the twist drill and chip evacuation. The spiral groove and the flank face intersect to form the main cutting edges and after the grooves and ridges, to control the size and distribution of the main cutting edge angle, and directly affect the chip flow rake face, curling and chip breaking.The papers is from the actual machining with solid carbide drill starting, extensively co mprehended the grinding technology, research status and results of current twist drill spiral gr oove, established a mathematical model of the spiral groove. Classic groove(convex groove, concave groove, straight groove), concave groove is further classified, proposed groove para meters of grinding drills spiral groove on the basis of the tool spiral groove simulation softwa re, and determined wheel parameters, process parameters and successfully made five different concave groove twist drill the thesis experiment with. In six groups of cutting parameters pro cessing 42CrMo,45 steel, measuring the axial force, torque and analysis of chip morphology draw:under the conditions of the cutting speed 42.1m/min, feed rate 0.20mm/r processing 4 2CrMo, the best cutting performance is D1030 groove drill; under the conditions of the cuttin g speed 47.1m/min, feed rate 0.20mm/r processing 45 steel, the best cutting performance is D1023 groove drill. Axial force, torque, chip breaking and chip evacuation of the two twist dri 11s are both optimal.
