All kinds of carbon materials are a type of functional material and were widely used. In this essay, two kinds of carbon materials were synthesized by different means. Biochar was prepared by pyrolysis directly, and activated carbon was manufactured through using chemical activating agent, ZnCl2 associated with FeCl3. The morphology, structure and surface functional group were determined by SEM, XRD and IR. The specific surface area and pore structure were characterized. We also studied the adsorption of the Cr(Ⅵ) waste water and the catalytic performance of the Pd/C catalyst in suzuki coupling reaction. The main contents of this thesis are summarized as follows:1. The powder of amygdalus pedunculata pall was pyrolysis directly without any chemical activating agent. We successfully fabricated the biochar which has big surface area, good pore structure and excellent adsorption performance by optimizing reaction conditions. Under the condition of 1000℃,3 h and the heating rate of 5 K/min, an excellent biochar was produced. The specific surface area, total pore volume and average pore size are 2275 m2/g,1.96 cm3/g and 3.44 nm, respectively.2. All of the biochars were characterized by SEM, XRD and IR. The result shows that the birchar prepared by the optimizing condition has abundant mesoporous on its surface, and it is belongs to the kind of the high quality biochar. The structure of the biochar is a hybird of amorphous carbon and graphite crystallite.3. The synthesized biochars were used to detect the adsorption of the Cr(Ⅵ) waste water. The results showed that all of them have certain ability to adsorb the Cr(Ⅵ) waste water, and B10-1K is the best. It proved that all biochars prepared can be used as adsorbent to reduce the pollution of the Cr(Ⅵ) in waste water.4. The ZnCl2 associated with FeCl3 was chosed to activate the starting materials for manufacturing activated carbon. The influence of reaction conditions to the specific surface area and pore structure were studied. Under the condition of 1000℃,2 h and the heating rate of 10 K/min, an activated carbon with excellent performance was produced. The specific surface area, total pore volume and average pore size are 1957 m2/g,1.06 cm3/g and 2.17 nm, respectively.5. All of the activated carbons were characterized by SEM, XRD and IR. The result shows that the activated carbon prepared by the optimizing condition has abundant mesoporous on its surface, and it is belongs to the kind of the high quality biochar. The structure of the activated carbon is a hybird of amorphous carbon and graphite crystallite.6. The synthesized activated carbons were used as catalyst support of the Pd/C catalyst to catalyze the suzuki coupling reaction. The test results showed that every catalyst has splendid catalytic performance under the condition of 70℃ and 10 h.
