Research On Sweater Structure For Artistic Expression

Tissue structure is the soul and charm of the sweater. The research of sweater tissue structure is mainly to discuss the composition of yarn(i.e. the primary raw material of sweater), and the structure relationship among various yarns. Different tissue structures affect these following aspects of both clothes and accessories, i.e. elasticity, thickness, handle, appearance, and even their overall structures. Fully using various sweater tissue structures to design clothes and accessories can dramatically improve artistic expression of clothes and accessories, and meet the requirement of “fast fashion” of consumers. The main works of this thesis are as follows: discussing the classifications and characteristics of yarns, analyzing both commonness and personality of different tissue structures, presenting the applications of sweater tissue structure to the design of both clothes and accessories, and interior design.We first give the definition of sweater tissue structure, the background and significance of the research on sweater tissue structure, and also summarize the development status of sweater tissue structure at home and abroad. Next, the characteristics and effects of different yarns, and the factors affecting artistic expression of yarns, are discussed in this thesis. Later, we introduce ten tissue structures and their effect figures and technical charts, and design these tissue structures on the machine. Then, we summarize familiar handicraft techniques for sweater design from five different aspects, i.e. ruching, spelling-sticking, stapling-setting, breding, local twist by handcraft, and many characteristics of clothes and accessories are comprehensively exhibited. Four styles, i.e. classicality, sweet, exaggeration and ease, from various styles, are concretely analyzed. Then, the style of classicality is designed and made on the machine. Based on the work in the slopwork design competition of woolen clothes in Dalang, Guangdong province, China, in November 2014, the author designs one piece of clothes and its accessories, including the selection of stage background music, and achieved the silver medal in this competition. Jacquard design of clothes and accessories are realized on the machine, and many artworks, such as “MA DAO CHENG GONG”, “JIU YU MEI HUA TU”, are twisted. The applications of tissue structure to home dry goods, design of arts and crafts, packaging of products, are analyzed. Combining the requirements of the author’s unit, we have made some accessories, such as muffler, neckerchief, shawl, various jacquards. Finally, the work of this thesis is summarized, and the shortcomings of this thesis are pointed out, and the development trends of sweater tissue structure are forecasted too.In summary, we have used sweater tissue structure as the research object of this thesis, and have deeply analyzed the classification and characteristics of sweater tissue structure and their artistic expression on the design of both clothes and accessories, and interior design. We not only theoretically analyzed and discussed sweater tissue structure and their artistic expression, but also designed them on the machine, with the aim of presenting positive guidance and reference for the design of sweater tissue structure both theoretically and practically.
